About Alex and Alicia

Alex Schmid

With over twenty years of experience in the aviation industry in various roles, Alex brings his subject matter expertise and a strong sense of airmanship to Swift. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot’s License and currently works as a designer for Canada’s air navigation service provider. Alex has been a flight instructor for the past five years with a local flight school and has been teaching ground school to a community group for more than twelve years. He instills industry best-practices to Swift’s training approach. His educational background includes degrees in Aerospace Engineering and in Physics. Alex has worked with several drone pilots and companies to integrate drones into their operations while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Alicia Krolak

Alicia’s skill set and experience uniquely compliments the organization and helps to set Swift apart from the rest. She holds a degree in Cognitive Science and has international aviation work experience. She has done research for Carleton University's Advanced Cognitive Engineering lab, as well as international research for NASA Ames with airlines and unmanned drone technologies. Alicia is currently working in RPAS Traffic Management. She has been teaching ground school for seven years and holds a private pilot license. She ensures that Swift is a modern and relevant organization that is ready to evolve with the industry.
